Lemon and Ginger Hot Toddy - fortheloveofbanting.com


Ingredients:

Juice and zest one 1 lemon

80g grated ginger

2-3 tbs xylitol (or to taste)

250ml water

Method:

Zest and juice one lemon.

Peel and grate ginger.

Add all ingredients to a pot, including halved juiced lemons.

Cook on medium heat for about 20-30 mins.

Strain and squeeze out as much moisture from the solid materials.

Allow to cool and store in cm glass jar or bottle in fridge.

To prepare hot toddy:

Place 3 tbs cordial to 200ml boiling water.

Mix well and drink once you can handle the heat.

Strawberry Smoothie - fortheloveofbanting.com

Ingredients: 
3 tbs Heba Pap
50g strawberries
200ml water
50ml milk
2 tbs double cream yoghurt
1 tbs MCT oil

Method:
Place all ingredients in blender and allow to blend until mixture smooth. Allow to stand for 5 minutes before drinking.

INGREDIENTS

1 chicken carcass which has been picked clean of all of the meat, or any type of bones left over from a roast dinner such as pork, beef, lamb2 cloves garlic crushed1 spring onion finely sliced1 bay leafvegetable scraps

INSTRUCTIONS

Put the chicken carcass, vegetable scraps, peelings and flavourings in a deep saucepan. Cover with water and simmer for as long as you can. Minimum of 2 hours, but longer if you can. You can also make bone broth in the slow cooker for 12-24 hours.Strain the liquid through a sieve to remove all the bones and scraps. These should be tasteless as all of the flavour and goodness are now in the bone broth.The bone broth may gel, or it may remain liquid. This depends on the bones used, and on how long it had been cooking for.

  • 1 kg / 2 lb (approx) of bacon bones with meat still remaining
  • boiling water
INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Pop all the bacon bones in the slow cooker.
  2. Pour on boiling water and cover.
  3. Cook on SLOW for 6-12 hours or HIGH for 4-8 hours.
